3-5-08 - This day's Council session - Motion - Greuel Mover 2008 / Parks - that the Council amend the recommendations adopted on February 26, 2008 (C.F. 07-0600-S77), relative to the 2007-08 Mid-Year Adjustment and Financial Status Report and Belt Tightening Measures, to clarify the intent of recommendation 41 to substitute the following recommendations in-lieu of 41:
41 i. Instruct the Office of Finance, with the assistance of the CAO and CLA, to report back to the Budget and Finance Committee with recommendations to ensure that all businesses operating in the City fully comply with all applicable business tax, parking tax and police permit requirements.
41 ii. Instruct all departments with outside vendor contracts to work with the Office of Finance to confirm that all City contractors are in compliance with the City's Business Tax Registration requirements, including, but not limited to, full payment of any taxes owed, and verifications of the validity of vendor BTRC numbers with those on file at the Office of Finance's Tax and Permit Division.
41 iii. Request the Office of Finance to report to the Council in 60 days on its findings regarding the level of Citywide outside vendor compliance with the City's BTRC requirements and any recommendations to ensure full compliance.

General City Purposes portion of the 2007-08 City Budget:
* African Marketplace - $50,000
* NAACP Theater Awards - $50,000
* Spoken Word - $15,000
* Coliseum July Fourth Fireworks Show - $60,000
* Pan African Film Festival - $20,000
* Latino Film Festival - $20,000
* Ecological Justice Day of Awareness (WGRDI, Inc.) - $7,500
