Subject
Motion - The City of Los Angeles has committed to focusing on the long term vision and future of the Los Angeles River. There are many communities bordering the Los Angeles River that can greatly benefit from this future vision.
Within Council District 4 south of San Fernando Road between Doran Street and Goodwin Avenue there is an industrial corridor that overlooks the Los Angeles River. It would be appropriate to name this community as River Glen in order to give it its own identity. Creating an identity for this area is significant and would help in the future beautification and revitalization efforts.
This area is on the border of Glendale adjacent to the Los Angeles River, thus the name "River Glen." This area is primarily industrial, with very few residences.
In order to proceed with the designation, action is needed to approve it and to direct the Department of Public Works (Bureau of Engineering) and Department of Transportation to provide the necessary resources to implement the designation of "River Glen."
THEREFORE MOVE that the area generally located south of San Fernando Road, east of Doran Street, west of Goodwin Avenue and north of the Los Angeles River be designated as "River Glen."
FURTHER MOVE that the Department of Public Works be directed to implement the designation of "River Glen."
FURTHER MOVE that the Department of Transportation be instructed to design and install signs at appropriate locations in order to identify "River Glen."
FURTHER MOVE that the Department of Transportation be directed to work with the Office of the 4th Council District relative to the location of the signs.
