C-108886 - To produce and present The Son Jarocho Music and Dance Program to empower at-risk youth in the Northeast San Fernando Valley communities by teaching elements central to the Son Jarocho tradition of Veracruz, Mexico. Participants will elarn basic knowledge of the history of this folkloric genre; how to play Son Jarocho instruments, including jaranas, requinto, and cajon; to sing vocals; the zapateado dance form; and how to participate in the culminating experience of these elements in the celebration of fandango. There will be fandango recitals at the endof of every 6-week instruction period - term of contract from September 1, 2005 through June 23, 2005 - total amount $8,000
