Title
COUNCIL FILES / NOT ON AGENDA / FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS / DEEMED / RECEIVED AND FILED
Subject
Motion - The City Council has for a long time accumulated a growing number of obsolete
and outdated files which are no longer relevant.
Current procedures do not provide a mechanism for an automatic termination of these obsolete files. In all other legislative bodies such as the State Legislature and the U.S. Congress all bills which are not adopted by the close of a two year term are automatically terminated.
Good housekeeping requires that the City Council now establish a similar procedure in order to eliminate the growing backlog of obsolete and outdated files.
THEREFORE MOVE, that effective upon the adoption of this Motion all files pending before the City Council, including its Committees, which have not been placed on a Council or Committee agenda for consideration for a period of two years or more shall be deemed to be Received and Filed.
FURTHER MOVE that the City Clerk be authorized to take any measures to implement the intent of this Motion.
