Motion - Locke High School will be holding its "Annual Homecoming Parade" on Saturday, November 5, 2005, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. This event serves the High School Homecoming participants, as well as the entire surrounding communities.
Council District Fifteen has received a request to provide certain services and declare this function a Special Event. Approval of this request will mean that an estimated $6,540 in fees and salary costs will be absorbed by the City. (Event Coordinator: Ida Talley (310) 701-6960 and Fax (323) 779-1322.
THEREFORE MOVE that the Locke High School "Homecoming Parade" be declared a Special Event; and, the involved City Departments be requested to waive all fees and costs, except insurance and application requirements.
FURTHER MOVE that the Event Sponsor be directed to fulfill the insurance requirements of the City by contacting the Bureau of Street Services - Investigations and Enforcement Division at (213) 473-4506 to obtain, and complete, the necessary insurance forms, upon adoption of this Motion by the City Council.
FURTHER MOVE the pursuant to Ordinance No. 150567 relating to temporary street closures; the following streets be closed on November 5, 2005, from approximately 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, subject to the supervision of the Director of Street Services.

East - 108th to Avalon, South on Avalon to 112th, West 112th to Main,
North - Main to 108th, East 108th to San Pedro, South on San Pedro to 110th,
East - 110th to Faculty Parking on Saints Street
FURTHER MOVE that the Bureau of Street Services be directed to furnish the necessary traffic control devices. These devices will be provided with the understanding that the sponsoring organization will pick up and return them to the Bureau of Street Services.
FURTHER MOVE that the Department of Transportation be directed to post "Temporary No Stopping" signs and provide traffic control personnel, if necessary.
FURTHER MOVE that the Los Angeles Police Department Special Event Planning Unit be instructed to immediately notify involved precincts or divisions. Upon receipt of notification, we request immediate evaluation and appropriate response.
FURTHER MOVE that should unforeseen circumstances change the actual date of the Special Event, the aforementioned departmental instructions continue to apply.
