8-9-06 - Council Action - Verbal Motion - Wesson, Jr. Mover 2006 / Perry - ADOPTED IN OPEN SESSION - HEREBY MOVE that Council ADOPT the following recommendations of the City Attorney in order to effect settlement in the case entitled Wiggins, et al v. Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, City of Los Angeles et al (Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. BC276472, related with Case No. BC277539):
1. AUTHORIZE the Chief Executive Officer, Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), or designee, to execute a settlement agreement on behalf of the CRA providing for the implementation by the CRA of certain development guidelines conditioning the conversion of residential hotel units in the City Center and Central Industrial Project Areas in replacement, requiring certain job outreach programs for Agency-assisted projects in the City Center Project Area, and paying $50,000 in attorney fees to the California Affordable Housing Law Project of the Public Interest Law Project, plus administrative record costs.
2. REQUEST that the CRA Board of Commissioners consider amending the City Center and Central Industrial Development Guidelines to incorporate an exemption for projects receiving funded from the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD).
3. DIRECT the CRA and LAHD to research and report back on the issue of concentration of location of replacement housing units, within and around project area boundaries.
This matter was approved by the Housing, Community, and Economic Development Committee (Wesson-Reyes-Perry voted "yes") at its meeting held August 8, 2006, in Closed Session as permitted by Government Code Section 54956.9(a).
8-9-06 - Council Action - MEMORANDUM TO FILE - The City Council held a Closed Session on Wednesday, August 9, 2006, pursuant to authority provided in California Government Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer with its legal counsel relative to the case entitled Wiggins, et al v. Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. BC 276472.
(Housing, Community and Economic Development Committee considered the above matter on August 8, 2006)
The purpose of this memorandum is to note for the record that following discussion of the above matter in Closed Session, the City Council adopted Motion (Wesson - Perry) in Open Session and instructed the City Clerk to transmit the file to the Mayor forthwith.
