3-7-07 - Council Action - Verbal Motion - Parks Mover 2007 / Greuel - ADOPTED IN OPEN SESSION - HEREBY MOVE that Council ADOPT the following recommendations of the City Attorney in order to effect settlement in the case entitled Juan I. Catalan, Mariah and Melissa Catalan, Through Their Guardian Ad Litem, Juan Catalan v. City of Los Angeles, et al., United States District Court Case No. CV 04-6233 CBM. (This action arises from an incident that occurred on May 12, 2003 involving members of the Los Angeles Police Department.), SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE MAYOR:
1. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to expend $320,000 in settlement of the case entitled Juan I. Catalan, Mariah and Melissa Catalan, Through Their Guardian Ad Litem, Juan Catalan v. City of Los Angeles, et al., United States District Court Case No. CV 04-6233 CBM, from the Liability Claims Account No. 9770, Fund 100, Department 59.
2. AUTHORIZE the City Attorney to draw a demand thereon in said amount payable to The Law Offices of Gary S. Casselman, Taylor & Ring and Juan I. Catalan, Mariah and Melissa Catalan, Through Their Guardian Ad Litem, Juan Catalan.
