PACOIMA / ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARADE

Motion - The Pacoima Chamber of Commerce is planning the 35th Annual Christmas Parade. This year the event will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2002. The Office of Council District Seven has received a request that the City provide certain services and declare the function a Special Event. Approval of this request will mean that an estimated $5,600 in fees and salary costs will be absorbed by the City. THEREFORE MOVE that the Pacoima Chamber of Commerce 35th Annual Christmas Parade be declared a Special Event; and, that all City departments be requested to waive all fees, costs, and requirements, except insurance. FURTHER MOVE that pursuant to Ordinance No. 150567 relating to temporary street closures those streets comprising the route of the Parade and assembly area set forth in the Special Event Permit Application be closed on December 14, 2002 during the hours of 6 am through 3 pm, subject to the supervision of the Director of the Bureau of Street Services: *Van Nuys Boulevard from Amboy Avenue to Herrick Avenue *Herrick Avenue from Van Nuys Boulevard to Pierce Street *Filmore Street from Laurel Canyon to Haddon Avenue *Judd Street from Laurel Canyon to Haddon Avenue *Mercer Street from Laurel Canyon to Haddon Avenue *Pinney Street from Laurel Canyon to Haddon Avenue FURTHER MOVE that the Department of Transportation be directed to post "Temporary No Stopping" signs on the above streets and provide traffic control personnel as required for the duration of this event, as required. FURTHER MOVE that the Bureau of Street Services be directed to provide the necessary traffic control devices, barricades, cones and flashers. These devices will be provided with the understanding that the sponsoring organization will pick up and return them to the Bureau. This year the event will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2003. The Office of Council District Seven has received a request that the City provide certain services and declare the function a Special Event. Approval of this request will mean that an estimated $3,642 in fees and salary costs will be absorbed by the City.
THEREFORE MOVE that the Pacoima Chamber of Commerce 36th Annual Christmas Parade be declared a Special Event; and, that all City Departments be requested to waive all fees, costs, and requirements, except insurance.
FURTHER MOVE that pursuant to Ordinance No. 150567 relating to temporary street closures those streets comprising the route of the Parade and assembly area set forth in the Special Event Permit Application be closed on December 13, 2003 during the hours of 7:00 am through 3:00 pm, subject to the supervision of the Director of the Bureau of Street Services:
*Van Nuys Boulevard from Laurel Canyon and Glenoaks Boulevard
*Herrick Avenue from Van Nuys Boulevard and Pierce Street
*Filmore Street from Laurel Canyon and Haddon Street
*Judd Street from Laurel Canyon and Haddon Street
*Mercer Street from Laurel Canyon and Haddon Street
*Pinney Street from Laurel Canyon and Haddon Street
*Amboy Avenue from Van Nuys Boulevard to Filmore Street
*Haddon Avenue from Van Nuys Boulevard to Filmore Street
FURTHER MOVE that the Bureau of Street Services be directed to furnish the necessary traffic control devices, both barricades and cones. These devices will be provided with the understanding that the sponsoring organization will pick up and return them to the Bureau.
FURTHER MOVE that the Department of Transportation be directed to post "Temporary No Stopping" signs and provide traffic control personnel, as required.
FURTHER MOVE that should unforeseen circumstances change the actual date of the Special Event, the aforementioned departmental instructions continue to apply.
