VAN NUYS HOLIDAY FESTIVITY

Motion - The Van Nuys Neighborhood Council, the Knights of Columbus, the Mid Valley Y's Men and the business owners on Van Nuys Boulevard are planning their annual Van Nuys Holiday Festivity, on November 25, 2006, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Van Nuys Holiday Festivity event, which is open to the public, includes a parade, tree and Menorah lighting, and music in an evening of holiday celebration. The Office of Council District Six has received a request for the City to provide certain services and declare the function a Special Event. Approval of this request will mean that an estimated $1,500.00 in fees and costs will be absorbed by the City. (Event Coordinator: Candido Marez - (818) 360-4240). THEREFORE MOVE that the Van Nuys Holiday Festivity be declared a Special Event; and that all City departments are requested to waive all fees, costs and requirements, except insurance; FURTHER MOVE that pursuant to Ordinance No. 150567 relating to temporary street closures, Van Nuys Boulevard, between Sylvan Street and Delano Street, be closed on November 25, 2006, during the hours of 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm, subject to the supervision of the Director of the Bureau of Street Services. FURTHER MOVE that the Bureau of Street Services be directed to furnish the necessary traffic controls devices. These devices will be provided with the understanding that the sponsoring organization will pick up and return them to the Bureau. FURTHER MOVE that thc Department of Transportation be directed to post "Temporary No Stopping" signs and provide traffic control personnel, as required. FURTHER MOVE that should unforeseen circumstances change the actual date of the Special Event, the aforementioned departmental instructions continue to apply.
