12-10-04 - This day's Council session - Motion - Hahn Mover 2004 / Garcetti - Operation Clean Sweep administers the Neighborhood Matching Fund (NMF) program, which provides community beautification grants up to $10,000. The community matches the grant through volunteer labor, or in-kind donations.
Projects must be hardscape and accessible to the general public. Typical NMF funded projects are community gardens, mural projects, mosaic tile projects, median plantings, tree plantings, school based beautification, etc. Operation Clean Sweep anticipates funding approximately 110 projects this year on a citywide basis.
In this year's City budget, a portion of the Community Based Organizations budget has been designated for community grants.
THEREFORE MOVE that, subject to the approval of the Mayor, $845,578 in the
"Community Based Organizations" line item in the Unappropriated Balance Fund No. 100-58 be appropriated and transferred to the Public Works Fund No. 100-74, Account No. 3040 (Contractual Services) for allocation to Operation Clean Sweep to award Neighborhood Matching Fund Grants on a Citywide basis.
