Motion - On March 2, 2002, under Council File No. 01-1459, the City Council adopted new procedures for processing street vacations, which require the adoption of a Rule 16 motion to initiate street vacation proceedings. Under these new procedures, when a petitioner submits an application and a fee deposit to the Bureau of Engineering, the Chair of the Public Works Committee is required to introduce a motion for the purposes of assigning a Council File Number and initiating the investigation of the vacation.
The Los Angeles Unified School District, owner of the property bounded by Sunset Boulevard, Van Ness Avenue, Fountain Avenue, and Wilton Place, has submitted an application requesting to vacate Ridgewood Place easterly of Van Ness Avenue from Fountain Avenue, to its northerly terminus, located in Council District 13.
Additionally, the adoption of the following recommendations does not constitute or imply approval of the vacation.
THEREFORE MOVE that upon adoption of this motion, street vacation proceedings be initiated pursuant to California Streets and Highways Code, Division 9, Part 3, Public Streets, Highways and Service Easements Vacation Law.
FURTHER MOVE that the Bureau of Engineering be directed to investigate the feasibility of this vacation request.
FURTHER MOVE that the Bureau of Engineering present its report regarding the feasibility of vacating the requested area to the Public Works Committee.

The City Council on January 14, 2004, under Council File No. 02-1981, conditionally approved the vacation of Ridgewood Place east of Van Ness Avenue from Fountain Avenue to its northerly terminus. The vacation conditions were not complied with prior to the expiration of the vacation approval.
Los Angeles Unified School District, owner of the properties adjacent to the street; have submitted a new application requesting to vacate the same street, located in Council District 13.
Additionally, the adoption of the following recommendations does not constitute or imply approval of the vacation.
THEREFORE MOVE that upon adoption of this motion, street vacation proceedings be initiated pursuant to California Streets and Highways Code, Division 9, Part 3, Public Streets, Highways and Service Easements Vacation Law.
FURTHER MOVE that the Bureau of Engineering be directed to process this vacation request under Council File No. 02-1981, Engineering Work Order No. E1400811, and apply the conditions established under the Council action of January 14, 2004, under Council File No. 02-1981 to this vacation request.
FURTHER REQUEST that the City Clerk append this Motion to Council File No. 02-1981.
FURTHER MOVE that the Bureau of Engineering present its report regarding the feasibility of vacating the requested area to the Public Works Committee.

4. ADOPT the accompanying City Engineer report dated September 28, 2006 to approve the vacation.
5. WAIVE the payment of fees for the vacation proceedings in accordance with LAAC Section 7.46 which exempts all governmental agencies - Findings ADOPTED - Categorical Exemption APPROVED.
