11-15-02 - Motion - Miscikowski Mover 2002 / Weiss - ADOPTED *AS AMENDED (see attached motions) - HEREBY MOVE that Council ADOPT the recommendation as submitted by the Emergency Preparedness Department (EPD) on today's Council agenda (Item No. 11; Council File 02-2220), and waived by the Public Safety Committee, relative to designating the General Manager, Emergency Preparedness Department, as the City's Emergency Operations Organization (EOO) Coordinator, as follows:
ADOPT the accompanying RESOLUTION changing the City's Emergency Operations Organization Coordinator designation from the City Administrative Officer to the General Manager, Emergency Preparedness Department, for the purpose of obtaining certain Emergency Management Performance Grant assistance from the Governor's Office of Emergency Services and the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management - Resolution ADOPTED.
11-15-02 - *Amending Motion - Weiss Mover 2002 / Garcetti - ADOPTED - HEREBY MOVE that Council ADOPT an AMENDMENT to the report from the Emergency Preparedness Department on today's Council agenda (Item No. 11; Council File 02-2220) relative to designating the General Manager, Emergency Preparedness Department as the City's Emergency Operations Organization Coordinator, as follows:
DIRECT the Chief Legislative Analyst to:
a. Report within 30 days relative to City departmental functions that are involved in threat preparedness and homeland security efforts; said report to contain a thorough examination and detailing of departmental operational capacities, culminating in suggested models or proposals for a centralized director of preparedness.
b. Review the Los Angeles Police Department's (and its consultant's) threat preparedness proposals and fold this information into the above report to Council
