5-19-99 - Environmental Quality and Waste Management Report ADOPTED AS AMENDED to:
1. ADOPT a new policy to refund sewer service charges (SSCs) to customers whose premises are connected to septic tanks and who receive no sewer service from the City.
2. ADOPT a new policy to provide cash refunds owed by the City to customers whose premises are connected to the City's sewer system, but whose sewage is conveyed to the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts for treatment. Cash refunds for these customers fall into following categories:
a) Customers who have active Department of Water and Power (DWP) accounts will receive their cash refunds from the Department of Water and Power by check.
b) Customers who do not have active Department of Water and Power accounts will have to follow the normal City procedure of filing claim forms with the City Clerk's office to receive their cash refunds.
3. CONTINUE the present policy of limiting the amount of any refund to actual overpayments made without interest
5-19-99 - Verbal Motion - Miscikowski Mover 1999 / Alatorre ADOPTED to AMEND the Budget and Finance Committee Report on today's agenda (Item No. 19, Council File 98-2333) relative to the City's policy on sewer service charge (SSC) refunds to include the following additional recommendation:
REQUEST the City Attorney and INSTRUCT the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation to report back to the Environmental quality and Waste management Committee, with an enhanced policy which would expedite refunds for closed accounts and credit claims
